League of Women Voters® of Greater Tucson Our Mission Statement
The League of Women Voters®,
a nonpartisan political organization encourages the informed and active participation of citizens in government, works to increase understanding of major public policy issues, and influences public policy through education and advocacy. The League of Women Voters®, established in 1920, promotes political responsibility through informed active participation in government at all levels. The League accomplishes this goal by: Voter Service: registering voters, bringing information to the public through open and balanced forums and written materials. Non-Partisan Policy: neither supporting nor opposing any candidate or political party. Study and Advocacy: working for or against selected public issues after thorough study and only if there is agreement among members. Join the Study Committee on Charter Schools The League of Women Voters of Greater Tucson study committee on charter schools held its initial meeting on May 21 at the League office. Notes from the meeting are attached here. The next meeting of the study commitee on charter schools will be Saturday, August 8 at 10:00 am. Call the League Office 327-7652 for additional information.
